Slippery Elm Powder Organic

Slippery elm promotes healthy strands and helps manage tangles. To try this herb, simply add 2-3 tablespoons to one cup of boiling water.  Once you’ve boiled the mixture for about 15 minutes on low/medium use a strainer to separate the liquid. You should be left with a substance that feels slick to the touch.

Slippery elm is a tree. The inner bark (not the whole bark) is used as medicine. People take slippery elm for coughs, sore throat, colic, diarrhea, constipation, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bladder and urinary tract infections, syphilis, herpes, and for expelling tapeworms.

It's generally safe to take daily capsules for up to eight weeks. Be sure to read the directions on any slippery elm product that you wish to use. If you're ever unsure of how much slippery elm to take, speak with your doctor. They can help you determine the correct dosage.
In addition to promoting detoxification via its natural laxative effect, slippery elm acts as a mild diuretic, helping to flush out even more toxins from the body. In fact, slippery elm is a common ingredient in many natural liver detox products.
Slippery elm may not be safe for children or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Pregnant women especially should not use slippery elm. Traditionally, people thought it could cause miscarriages. There are no scientific reports of slippery elm interacting with any other medications, although it may slow down the absorption of other drugs or herbs. It is not certain whether slippery elm is effective in treating any medical condition. Medicinal use of this product has not been approved by the FDA. Slippery elm should not be used in place of medication prescribed for you by your doctor.
