The Magic of Dandelions and Breast Health
When you look out at all those sunny yellow dandelion flowers in your yard this spring, rather than seeing them as a signal to do something about your lawn, I invite you to congratulate yourself for your good fortune. One of the most important herbal remedies for breast health is growing right in your own backyard.
Whether you or a loved one has been diagnosed with breast cancer, are healing from breast cancer, or just want to have healthy breasts, you need to know about the healing properties of dandelion (Taraxacum officiale).
The seeds of this humble flower are dispersed by the wind. Once they are airborne, they travel vast distances, crossing oceans with ease. Once the seeds find solid ground, they cheerfully thrive in just about any kind of soil. As a result this Mediterranean native is now found on every continent except Antarctica.
Dandelion’s deep taproot is similar to a carrot though paler and much smaller. It’s difficult to eradicate or harvest by simply yanking it out of the ground. Dandelion is target of a well-‐funded campaign by companies that manufacture herbicides.
In a futile attempt to eradicate dandelions, homeowners are encouraged to dump toxic chemicals onto their lawns. Once these toxins are introduced into the environment, they ultimately find their way into our water and food supplies. These carcinogenic substances, most of which are also estrogen disruptors, are a proven contributing factor in increased cancer rates, especially breast cancer.
The most effective remedy for treating diseases caused by exposure to environmental toxins is actually the much-‐maligned dandelion.
Dandelion root is one of the most detoxifying herbs we have and it is hepatic, or tonic for the liver. It improves liver and gallbladder function, which improves digestion and elimination. Most importantly, dandelion root helps the liver clear excessive estrogens and toxins from the blood and eliminate them. In addition, research with alcohol extracts (tinctures) of dandelion root indicates it may prevent or reduce tumors.2 Dandelion extracts also decrease something known as the tumor necrosis factor (TNK) that causes inflammation and disrupts immune response to increase the risk of developing cancer.
A nutrient rich wild food with high levels of vitamins A, C, K and calcium that also stimulate endocrine secretions and supports digestion. Drinking dandelion root tea on a regular basis encourages the growth of 14 strains of bifidobacteria that are critical for healthy gut flora.3 When used regularly after taking a round of antibiotics or other strong medications that may disrupt digestion, dandelion root helps restore the digestion. Regular use of dandelion root tea or extract protects the liver from damage caused by pharmaceutical drugs and environmental toxins.
What all of this boils down to is the use of dandelion root and leaf to improve liver function, promote healthy digestion and elimination, and break down tumors, malignant and benign, is well supported by folk tradition as well as modern research. And because dandelion root is a food-‐like tonic herb, it is suitable for long-‐ term use. (In some rare cases it may cause a loose stool and it is contraindicated while taking antihypertensive or diuretic medications.)
Who would benefit from dandelion as a tonic or food? Women who suffer from cyclic breast pain and swelling or fibrocystic breast disease and anyone being treated for or at risk for developing breast cancer would be wise to consider dandelion root part of a long-‐term health strategy. While harvesting dandelions from urban areas is not recommended as they contain toxins generated by air and water pollution, most health food stores and on-‐line sources have organic dandelion root in various forms. Unlike pharmaceuticals, dandelion works slowly and deeply to bring you into balance. It can, and should, be used for months or even years as part of every woman’s wellness program.
Dandelion root is available in three forms: as bulk dried herb for tea; as a capsule; or as an alcohol extract or tincture. If you have a source of unpolluted dandelions, spring is the time to harvest them.
A Recipe for Dandelion Root Tea
Bulk dried dandelion root may be purchased from mail order sources or your local herbs shop. To prepare dandelion root tea, use 1 heaping teaspoon of dried root, or 2 teaspoons for fresh root (chopped) per 8 ounces of boiling water. Measure dandelion root into a teapot or quart canning jar and cover with freshly boiled water. Cover and steep for 40 minutes. Strain the herb and discard. Drink a half a cup of tea three times a day. The taste is bitter, which many people enjoy, but if you prefer you may combine it with other teas you enjoy, especially aromatics like lemon balm, peppermint or spearmint, and little bit of honey. Store tea in the refrigerator for no longer that two days.

Herbal Oils for Breast Self-Massage 1.1
Using infused herbal oils is an easy and pleasurable way to keep your breasts healthy, prevent and reverse cysts, dissolve troublesome lumps, and repair abnormal cells. Breast skin is thin and absorbent, and breast tissue contains a great deal of fat, which readily absorbs infused herbal oils. The healing and cancer-preventing actions of herbs easily migrate into olive oil—creating a simple, effective product for maintaining breast health.
Add beeswax to any herbal oil and you have an ointment. The antiseptic, softening, moisturizing, and healing properties of beeswax intensify the healing actions of the herbs and carry them deeper into the breast tissues. Whether you want to maintain breast health—or have had a diagnosis of cancer—infused herbal oils and ointments are soothing, safe, and effective allies.
Dandelion oils (Taraxacum officinale)
Dandelion has a special affinity for breasts. Regular use of dandelion flower oil promotes deep relaxation of the breast tissues, facilitating the release of held emotions. Applied regularly to the entire breast area, glowing golden dandelion flower oil can strengthen your sense of self worth as well as your immune system. Easily made, this oil is a superb ally for regular breast self massage, and highly praised by those doing therapeutic breast massage.
Dandelion root oil, used alone or in conjunction with the flower oil, can help clear minor infections, relieve impacted milk glands, and reduce cysts in the breasts.
Essential oils are concentrated oils obtained from aromatic plants by steam distillation or with chemical solvents. They are capable of killing normal as well as abnormal cells, and severely disrupting liver and kidney functioning. Essential oils are quite different from infused oils (which are made by steeping fresh plants in an edible oil). Essential oils can cause poisoning; infused oils cannot. Essential oils can’t be made at home; infused oils can. Essential oils can be costly (up to $300 per ounce); infused oils are reasonably priced (generally under $10 per ounce). Essential oils can irritate tender skin; infused oils rarely do. Essential oils are used in small amounts; infused oils are used lavishly.
Caution: Test your sensitivity before using essential oils. Put a drop of the oil on the sensitive skin inside your elbow. If your skin gets red or mottled, itches or burns in the next 12 hours, be very cautious with essential oils and certainly don’t use them on your breasts. My cat’s neck fur fell out after I anointed her chin with three drops of essential oil to (successfully) rid her of fleas!
Essential oils of citrus, rosemary, lavender, marjoram, juniper, or Clary sage—ten drops diluted in one ounce/30 ml of olive oil—have been used to increase circulation to the breasts, warm them, activate the immune system, and offer the healing benefits of their aromas as well.

Dandelion Root Treatment
I have known for some time that Dandelion Root was a potential treatment for cancer. I just didn't have any details on how to make it or use it.
Dandelion Root is frequently used by herbalists to treat liver, kidney, and gallbladder problems. Dandelion Root has been used in China for certain kinds of cancers for centuries. It is incredibly high in potassium and Vitamin A, among other things.
Dandelion Root has been a focus of study for its ability to improve liver and gallbladder function, as well as stimulate appetite. And right now, human clinical trials are taking place to evaluate how Dandelion Root extract might help in treating blood-related cancers, including lymphoma and leukemia.
Laboratory studies have shown dandelion to have anticancer properties, but clinical studies have not shown this effect in humans. Dandelion Root extract has anticancer effects against melanoma, leukemia, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal cancer cell lines. However, human studies are limited.
Researchers from Windsor Regional Cancer Centre in Canada announced in February 2015 that approval and funding for human clinical trials on dandelion's anti-cancer potential had been received. The researchers are testing a potent form of Dandelion Root extract on a group of 30 patients with end-stage, blood-related cancers.
The University of Maryland Medical Center has also noted that the dandelion flower, in particular, possesses strong antioxidant properties which are helpful in averting cancer. Earlier research by Dr. Siyaram Pandey from the University of Windsor further illustrates the anti-cancer potential of dandelion. In otherwise untreatable pancreatic cancer (which is said to have close to a 100 percent mortality rate), Dandelion Root extract was found to induce programmed cell death, also known as apoptosis, in pancreatic cancer cells. It also killed leukemia and melanoma cancer cells in lab mice. Dandelion Root extract similarly induced autophagy, a process by which the body maintains homeostasis through the proper elimination of damaged or malignant cells.
“BxPC-3 and PANC-1 pancreatic cells were sensitive to aqueous DRE (Dandelion Root extract). This extract induces selective apoptosis in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Dandelion Root extract caused the collapse of the mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to prodeath autophagy. Normal human fibroblasts were resistant at similar doses,” the study stated.
“We demonstrated that DRE has the potential to induce apoptosis and autophagy in human pancreatic cancer cells with no significant effect on noncancerous cells. This will provide a basis on which further research in cancer treatment through DRE can be executed.”
‘I'm living proof it works'
(Reprint of ad placed by George Cairns in The Northwest Herald)
Every week around 10,000 people die of cancer. Government figures show the death rate for cancer deaths has not changed in the last 10 years. Chemo and radiation only save around 10 percent of the people treated. So this shows our doctors don't have much to work with.
As this article goes on, I will explain how to prepare this plant and how much to take. There is nothing to buy. For some reason, the Lord has picked me to carry these words to you. I am only the delivery boy, and none of this is my idea. I do believe every word I write here, and I'm living proof it works.
The cost of printing is my thanks to God for giving me back my life and health.
A little over three years ago I was about done in with cancer. One morning I was waking up and hoping the end would come soon, a voice came to me and said. “You have to do something about your prostate cancer. Take the root of the dandelion. Don't expect a miracle. It took you a long time to get in this condition.” The voice was gone.
I thought the voice was kidding to use the dandelion. When this voice tells you to do something, you do it. You must do it, like writing this article. It is the last thing I ever expected to do. Then I thought he didn't tell me how much to take or how to prepare it.
As soon as you could blink an eye, I knew how much to take, how to prepare it, and it would take four to six months to cure me. I also knew I wasn't to make a penny on it. As soon as I got around that morning, I dug some roots and started to prepare it.
About a week later I started taking it. Three weeks later the pain in my back and side was gone and my bowels had improved. Five and one-half months later they could find no cancer problem in me at all.
I then wanted to find someone else to try it, and that was the biggest problem yet. Nobody seems to want to help. When I told doctors, they just smiled as if I was nuts. Finally, I was telling a friend about it and he said he had a friend that was dying of lung cancer. He had it in both lungs and was bed ridden. They were tapping his lungs. He had been given 4 to 6 weeks to live.
After he had been on this powder about six weeks, he was up and around doing his chores and driving his car. He went to his doctor's office, and the doctors could not believe it. They took him to the hospital and gave him a CAT scan. They found no cancer lesions in his lungs and said it was a miracle.
I then put an ad in The Northwest Herald offering it free and four people said they would try it. Slowly one person told another and it spread. There was a fair amount of people taking it for different kinds of cancer and several for other things.
For instance, a man lost the use of his immune system and was told he wouldn't be able to work again for three years, in six months he is now working ½ days and feeling better.
I know this is not a cure all. It won't help everyone or all kinds of cancer. I know it is not a cure for skin cancer and it hasn't had luck with brain tumors. There is a doctor in Boston, Massachusetts that has developed a vaccine that is doing great things. This has been successful with prostate, colon, breast, liver and best of all with lung cancer. Five people have taken it for lung cancer and all five have been cured once.
The immune system controls the cancer cells in your body. As long as the immune system is healthy, you don't usually have a cancer problem. When your immune system gets run down, it loses control of the cancer cells, and they start eating live cells and this is what they call cancer.
This powder made from the Dandelion Root has something in it that builds up the blood and the immune system. When the immune system is built up so far, it gets back control of cancer cells, and they do an about face and start cleaning up the mess they've made. This is why you must have a fair appetite because your body must build itself up and be healthy if your immune system is going to be strong.
This will not work for people that have lost their appetite or are on chemotherapy. Doctors try to blast cancer out of your body with Chemo or radiation. By doing so, it destroys your immune system and appetite. These are the most important things your body needs to beat cancer.
Operations also knock the immune system haywire. This is why so many people that have operations for cancer find that a short time later it has spread somewhere else.
Many of the worst diseases that have plagued the world have been cured quite easily. When I was a boy, women dreaded the goiter more than cancer. A little iodine in the diet cured that. For hundreds of years, the most dreaded diseases were leprosy and lockjaw. A doctor found he could produce penicillin from moldy bread and could cure them and many more things. How long has moldy bread been around?
I'm sure scientists will find many uses for the powder made from the root of the dandelions beside cancer. I have already found it builds up the blood so you heal much faster. To make the powder from the Dandelion Root you must follow my directions to the letter. Any changes and it won't work.
Dandelion has not been shown to treat or prevent cancer.
Dandelion is used in traditional medicine to treat many ailments. Laboratory studies have shown that dandelion can kill certain bacteria and other microbes.
